In the heart of the higher part of the "Marca Trevigiana" - in the Veneto region - an ideal area for vine cultivation, lies the village of Refrontolo - 60 km north of Venice & some 200 m above sea level – a location that brings forth wines of the highest quality. Here in a sunny, south facing valley, nestling amongst the foothills of the Alps, is the small estate of Vincenzo Toffoli, established in 1964. From the days of his youth Vincenzo worked in the surrounding vineyards and wineries learning the art of making Prosecco wines. When he was able to buy his own Estate he finally realized his dream of making his own wines under the family label. Over the years his efforts have been recognised with the many awards received for the quality of the estates produce. In 2005 three wines have been presented at the important XIII° International wine contest at the Vinitaly wine fair in Verona. It has been a great satisfaction to receive “Gran Menzione” for the Prosecco wines. Also in 2006 the Prosecco Extra dry obtained another prize at Vinitaly With all the grapes produced, on the twelve hectares of vineyards actually cultivated, the wines obtained are: White wines: • Prosecco di Conegliano e Valdobbiadene D.O.C., still, semi sparkling and sparkling; • Passito di Prosecco IGT: a sweet dessert wine; • Verdiso IGT from an autochthonic grape cultivated in this area; Red wines: • Colli di Conegliano D.O.C. - Refrontolo Passito - a lovely sweet desert wine made with Marzemino grapes; • Amaranto dei Vanai a blend of Marzemino, Merlot and Cabernet.
