Toasted Head Reserve Pinot Noir 2006
Wine Tasting Notes Our Barrel Reserve Pinot Noir boasts a beautiful varietal nose of wild cherry and raspberry fruit complemented by floral, Asian spice, sandalwood, and earth tones. Sappy, spicy, and wonderfully balanced in the mouth. With unmistakable varietal pedigree, we produce lovely elegant Pinot Noir that is delicious now, but will age beautifully in bottle for several years.
R.H. Phillips Winery, nestled in the Dunnigan Hills northwest of of Sacremento, was founded in 1983 by brothers Karl and John Giguiere along with John’s wife Lane. Twenty-eight years later the Giguiere’s continue to produce quality wine with the help of winemakers Blake Kuhn and Owen Smith. Known for their Toasted Head brand wines, the winery sits on 1,700 acres and is a favorite site for weddings and other special events.
Editorial Reviews for Toasted Head Reserve Pinot Noir
Write your review here, and rate the wine from 1 to 5 glasses above. This smells light and gentle with a touch of cola over earthy, slightly brothy, and thus savory, dried cherry fruit. This is certainly a lightweight wine but it has really Pinot typicity with good acids and soft, integrated tannins that support that same dried cherry fruit tone on the nose. The fruit pops nicely on the finish, which has a nice tea tone, and while certainly not a powerhouse this offers up some convincing Pinot drinking. The finish is a bit diffuse but this is very nice pinot. 88pts

Food Pairings for Toasted Head Reserve Pinot Noir

This pleasantly earthy wine has scents of wild cherry, raspberry, subtle flowers, spice, and wood. A balanced combination of sweet and spicy flavors hit the palate for a long, lively finish. Great to drink now, but expect it to age even better.
