Food Pairings for Toasted Head Merlot
I really like this. It is spicy and earthy and not too fruit forward. There is a little bit of dark fruit, blackberry, black cherry. But lots of unique wood, cedar maybe juniper. A nice touch of vanilla. Wonderful, warm, spicy, smooth. Complex enough to make it interesting. Will buy again.

a subtly sweet, consistently good red.

Aromas and flavors of cassis and red berry fruit with toffee, chocolate and vanilla oak nuances. Try this full-bodied Merlot with skirt steak with caramelized onions or a rustic beef bourguignon.
Toasted Head Merlot is a blend of 91% Merlot, 6% Petite Verdot and 3% Malbec. Classic Merlot flavors of cherry, raspberry and chocolate are highlighted by wild berry and blackberry flavors from Petite Verdot. Malbec softens the tannins and adds a hints of spiciness to the finish. Barrels with toasted heads used for aging add richness and a nice touch of toasty, vanillin spice to the wine.

Unlike the many lackluster Merlots one may find on store shelves, Toasted Head Merlot's complex aromas of toast and molasses, anise, red berries, and leather prepare the drinker wonderfully well for the bright raspberry and lush black cherry flavors which follow. A spicy midpalate and a toasty vanilla finish complete the tasting experience. The full yet balanced tannins make it drinkable while young or worthy of aging.
Shows real finesse and polish in the smooth, dusty texture and overall balance. The flavors are earthy-fruity, suggesting coffee, blackberries and plums, with lots of palate-stimulating spices. Easy to find with 48,000 cases produced.
Rich with aromas and flavors of black cherry and black currant spiced with clove and licorice, this Merlot is mouthfilling and long on the palate, given definition by ripe tannins and judicious oak.
Complex aromas and flavors of bright cherry, roasted coffee and vanilla, with hints of dried herbs and spice. Tannins are firm, but balanced, given the very ripe style of the wine and its oodles of toasty oak.
