Smoky, tarry and jammy with a lot of black, medicinal spice notes dominating the nose. Very easy and fairly fruity in the mouth with soft, easy tannins and good acidity supporting the bright red fruit, a bit plummy, and with raspberry jam tones this is easy and fresh with good finishing length and purity though it turns a bit chewy on the backend. Something not quite Cabernet like in here reminds me of slightly unripe fruit and while it’s fruitier than one would expect from the nose it is not typical Cabernet. 86pts

Tasted this wine at the Snooth Panel tasting: Muted sweet (candy) smelling wine with a short finish and nothing really distinctive.

This wine had a smokey nose, but overall I found it thin and bitter. There were some raspberry notes and the mid-palate was fine, but overall it was a bit disappointing. Tasted at the Snooth PTP California Cab blind tasting: http://www.snooth.com/talk/topic/snooth-ptp-california-cabernet

Toasted Head Cabernet Sauvignon was aged 18 months in American oak barrels, 20% in new barrels for the vanilla and toasty flavors that new oak imparts. Look for a bouquet of cherry and blackberry fruit, with notes of chocolate, leather, roasted coffee, and sweet oak. The tannins are mouth filling but soft, with a hint of smoke.
