One thread that runs through almost all the Cabernet based wines from Napa is their lush, ripe full-bodied feel and rich flavors of currant and berry. Wines from the valley floor, particularly around Rutherford, are famed for a dusty quality and those coming from the hillsides surrounding the valley, Mt. 92 Points, Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - “The brilliant 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon To-Kalon Vineyard (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) exhibits a dark ruby/purple color, and a style similar to the Cloudy’s Vineyard, with more complexity as well as subtle toast, cedarwood, fruitcake, black currant, and high class, unsmoked cigar tobacco characteristics. The sweetness of the tannins, the richness and expansiveness in the mouth, the layered texture, and long, silky, tannic finish are all impressive. This 2005 should read more...
