Tin Roof Cellars Sauvignon Blanc North Coast 2011

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

A bit earthy and polleny on the restrained nose with a soft melony sweetness and a bit of fig enlivened with hints of lemon oil and cut grass. A bit soft on the palate this is broad and fairly transparent with a nice mineral edge. Like the nose this is a bit understated in the mouth but it does show nice crisp fruit with hints of melon and grapefruit finish with moderate length and a nice refreshing hint of astringency. 85pts

Wine Tasting NotesThis lovely Sauvignon Blanc (North Coast Appellation) is a blend of 60% Lake County fruit and 40% Sauvignon Blanc grown in Sonoma Countys Alexander Valley, Dry Creek Valley and Russian River Valley. As 'Tin Roof', Murphy-Goode introduces a style more typical of New Zealand or the Loire Valley than the wines normally made at the winery. The focus here is on the aromatics and the fresh lively fruit that is typically Sauvignon Blanc. The wine is perfect with delicate dishes, highly flavored and spicy foods or is lovely when served as aperitif.
