Tilia Malbec 2013
The Tilia wines are made at Bodegas Esmeralda in the Eastern region of Mendoza. They are made by Alejandro Viggiani, a winemaker and viticulturist in charge of all Catena family vineyards in Eastern Mendoza. This Malbec exemplifies the true varietal character of Malbec from Mendoza. The grapes are sourced from vineyard sites in the Eastern and Southern regions of Mendoza ranging in elevation from 1,968 to 3,937 feet above sea level.

The Tilia Malbec-Syrah shows a bright purple color with violet highlights. The nose is full of rich black fruit aromas with light earth notes and a touch of roasted coffee. The palate displays concentrated cassis and black raspberry fruit flavors interwoven with a touch of chocolate and sweet spice finishing with ripe, silky tannins.
Floral and fresh-crushed red fruit notes usher in a lively mouthful of plum, pomegranate and black fig flavors. Tarry and spicy details fill the finish, with green herbal accents. Drink now through 2017.
Bright, dark red. Distinctly dark aromas of blackberry, black cherry, violet and bitter chocolate. Offers an enticing sugar/acid balance to the spicy dark berry and cherry fruit flavors. A bit tighter and more serious than the Bonarda but will also offer early appeal. Finishes with a firm but pliant spine of dusty tannins.
