What to Expect

Argentina, and in particular the region around Mendoza, is making a name for itself as the source of some of the finest expressions of Malbec ever made. In this warm, yet dry climate the Malbec achieves near perfect ripeness endowing the wines with a velvety texture and intense flavors of blackberry, peppery spice, and balsamic herbs. The cooler, well-drained slopes of the hillsides of the region have proven to be ideally suited for Malbec, allowing for the wines to achieve a level of complexity and harmony that rivals those of Napa or Bordeaux.

Wine & Spirits ReviewBonarda and malbec, Argentina's flagship red grapes, offer all their charm in this blend: The bonarda delivers juicy, ripe red fruit and a soft, lush texture; the malbec adds elegant tannins plus violet and dry red cherry notes. The result is delicious and vibrant, ready to pour now with slices of proscuitto.Wine Spectator ReviewRated 90With an alluring nose of spice, mocha and cocoa powder, this also delivers a pure, racy palate of red plum and currant fruit, with a long, lingering finish. Varietal Composition: 60% Bonarda, 40% Malbec Aromas of bright berry/cherry fruit and electric-purple color. Like swallowing a whole bowl of mixed ripeberries at once. Big body yet very balanced, with luscious layers of raspberry, cherry, and cocoaflavors. Just a hint of baking spice at the end brings it all together. Pairs well with grilled meats such asbeef and pork, smoked ham, and even pizza with meat toppings.
