The Antinori family has been making wine for over six hundred years, since Giovanni di Piero Antinori became part of the Arte Fiorentina dei Vinattieri in 1385. Throughout its long history, spanning 26 generations, the family has always personally managed the business making innovative, sometimes courageous choices, always with unwavering respect for tradition and the land. Today Marchese Piero Antinori is director of the company, assisted by his three daughters, Albiera, Allegra and Alessia, who are personally involved in the business. The qualities of tradition, passion and instinct have made Antinori one of the leading Italian producers of fine quality wines. Every vintage, every terroir, every idea is a new beginning, a new quest to raise our quality margins. As Marchese Piero loves to repeat: “ancient roots play an important role in our philosophy, but they have never held back our spirit of innovation”. As well as the family's traditional heritage of estates in Tuscany and Umbria, investments have been made over time in other areas highly suited to quality wine production, in Italy and abroad, in a quest to promote new terroirs, rich in winegrowing potential. Antinori continually experiment with their vineyards and cellars, with selections of native and international clones, growing methods, vineyard altitudes, fermentation methods and temperatures, traditional and modern vinification techniques, types of wood, size and age of barrels, and various bottle-ageing periods. Piero Antinori says: “We have shown over the years that it is possible to produce internationally-acclaimed fine stylish, elegant wines in Tuscany and Umbria while maintaining their original character”. Looking to the future, Antinori explains: “There are many books in our library but they are never enough for us. Our mission is not yet complete: we are driven to express the vast potential of our vineyards and reconcile all that is new and undiscovered with Tuscany's traditional, cultural, agricultural, artistic and literary heritage. These things represent the identity of Antinori, and one of our greatest strengths is that we are in Tuscany – our essential ‘Tuscan-ness', if you will”. Read less

My first memory of a Super Tuscan, it was drank in Sofia Bulgaria in June 2009 and was a fantastic experience to try world class Sangiovese for the first time. Intense fruit flavours with wonderful length, I think the profile was blackberry fruit dominant with quite well balanced silky tannins

Super-Tuscan style at a modest price, this wine is a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah. You can taste the French grapes in the deeper, plush flavors and aromas of plum and cassis. There is spice and herbal notes as well with a bright aftertaste. Good with food.

91 points. This wine has really sweet and supple raspberry and cherry notes on the nose. There is also a very delicate touch of pepper, some soft floral notes, and some orange peel and cloves. I also pick up on something that reminds me of cooked carrots mixed in with some berry bush tones and a little cream and spice. It opens sweet and rich on the palate with really nice spicy, black stone components. I get a faint root beer creaminess with some very appealing chocolate and cashew notes. There is a little coastal minerality with some plum jam and a touch of herbs. This wine is perfectly balanced between ripe, almost jammy, fruit and firm tannins. Really rich, smooth, and intense, this is a great example of why this appellation is so popular. Very nice stuff and priced right for the quality, definitely Worth Trying. Lots of oak and cedar in nose, with a bit of Sangiovese in background. Flavors very coarse, and finish sharp. Antinori started with good grapes and ruined it with too much oak. Bad wine making! International style at its worst.

Deep ruby red color, the Tignanello '04 looks like class before you even pick up the glass. The nose is exceptionally fresh and quickly gives up aromas of blackcurrent, spices, herbs, cherries and tobacco. A well balanced, smooth palate has perfect tannins and a smooth, long finish. Superb. Mixed grapes: 85% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Cabernet Franc. Deep red colour with a tobacco, curry, blackberry and blackcurrent frangance. The wine transmits a sweet sensation and reveals a Tignanello particulary soft tasting.

For this outstanding 2005 vintage, the wine received ratings of 91 points from Robert Parker and Wine Spectator and 90 points from Stephen Tanzer. At Wine Gems, we simply call it a red wine gem!Marchese Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva is dark ruby-garnet in color. On the nose, it has pronounced cherry and violet notes with nuances of tobacco. The wine is full-bodied with remarkable depth and structure. On the palate, it shows flavors of blackberry, raspberry, chocolate and spice. Aged for 14 months in 225-liter French oak barrels (Alliers & Troncais) for added richness and complexity, it spends another full year in bottle before release. Beautifully balanced to enjoy now, this red has the potential to reward cellaring for another 8-10 years. It is long and silky smooth on the finish.Enjoy Marchese Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva with osso bucco, lasagna, veal Milanese, grilled vegetables, and aged cheeses.

The 2004 Tignanello (85% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc) presents a livelier shade of ruby along with fresher aromatics and flavors. Deeply expressive, it reveals black cherries, licorice, tar and sweet toasted oak on a line... Robert Parkers Wine Advocate.
