Tignanello Igt. Antinori 2004
My first memory of a Super Tuscan, it was drank in Sofia Bulgaria in June 2009 and was a fantastic experience to try world class Sangiovese for the first time. Intense fruit flavours with wonderful length, I think the profile was blackberry fruit dominant with quite well balanced silky tannins
Super-Tuscan style at a modest price, this wine is a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah. You can taste the French grapes in the deeper, plush flavors and aromas of plum and cassis. There is spice and herbal notes as well with a bright aftertaste. Good with food.
91 points. This wine has really sweet and supple raspberry and cherry notes on the nose. There is also a very delicate touch of pepper, some soft floral notes, and some orange peel and cloves. I also pick up on something that reminds me of cooked carrots mixed in with some berry bush tones and a little cream and spice. It opens sweet and rich on the palate with really nice spicy, black stone components. I get a faint root beer creaminess with some very appealing chocolate and cashew notes. There is a little coastal minerality with some plum jam and a touch of herbs. This wine is perfectly balanced between ripe, almost jammy, fruit and firm tannins. Really rich, smooth, and intense, this is a great example of why this appellation is so popular. Very nice stuff and priced right for the quality, definitely Worth Trying. Lots of oak and cedar in nose, with a bit of Sangiovese in background. Flavors very coarse, and finish sharp. Antinori started with good grapes and ruined it with too much oak. Bad wine making! International style at its worst.
Deep ruby red color, the Tignanello '04 looks like class before you even pick up the glass. The nose is exceptionally fresh and quickly gives up aromas of blackcurrent, spices, herbs, cherries and tobacco. A well balanced, smooth palate has perfect tannins and a smooth, long finish. Superb. (SN - 11/07)
Full of flavor, great over a full steak dinner spread. One of the finest of the super tuscans.
My favorite Super Tuscan. Well-balanced and delicious.

2004 Marchese Antinori Riserva Chianti Classico DOCG - Italy - Region: Toscane - Apellation: Chianti Classico - Sangiovese - 750 ml.
Mixed grapes: 85% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Cabernet Franc. Deep red colour with a tobacco, curry, blackberry and blackcurrent frangance. The wine transmits a sweet sensation and reveals a Tignanello particulary soft tasting.
Wine Tasting NotesIntense ruby red color. Fruity hints on the nose blend well with the toasty, chocolate and vanilla notes from ageing in wood. A complex, harmonious and well-structured wine with smooth tannins and persistant fruity hints.
Red berries and light oaky aromas on this red. Unobtrusive tannins make it go well with a huge range of meat dishes.
91 Points - Wine Spectator "Very rich aromas of blackberry jam, toasty oak and Indian spices. Full-bodied, with big, velvety tannins and beautiful fruit. A rich and polished red. Drink now."

Scored 91Pts - Wine Advocate Tasting Notes - Antinori’s flagship Chianti, the 2004 Chianti Classico Riserva Marchesi Antinori, reveals greater depth, vibrancy and freshness. Ripe black cherries, new leather, menthol, smoke and wild herbs flow from this sweet, layered Chianti. The wine is approachable today, but also has the tannic backbone and stuffing to insure another decade or so of very fine drinking. It spent 14 months in small French oak barrels prior to being bottled. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2019.
