What to Expect

Cabenet Sauvignon: Originally of French origins, this versatile grape produces exceptional wines around the globe. It's usually medium to full bodied with a fine structure that supports black and red fruit flavors with typical notes of olive, chili and herbs that add complexity.

Winemakers Notes

2005 Antinori Tignanello Toscana Very intense ruby red colour. Nicely expressed varietal aromas with hints of black berry fruit. The palate is weighty, dense and vibrant with complex structure thanks to support of the acidity. Long and lingering with hints of chocolate, coffee and marmalade in the aftertaste. The beautifully handled tannin from the wine and wood blend making Tignanello a very complex, stylish and sophisticated wine. Winery notes2004 Vintage 96 pts (RP) and 96 pts (WS) and in the top 10 wines in the world for wine spectator.

JS: Pretty and fresh aromas of flowers, berry and licorice. Full-bodied, with ultrafine tannins and a solid core of fruit. Very pretty and balanced. Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Best after 2011. 26,250 cases made.

85% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc Tignanello is made exclusively from the vineyard of the same name which is situated on limestone and tufaceous soil on the Tignanello estate covering 47 south-west-facing hectares at altitudes between 350 and 400 metres a.s.l.. This was the first Sangiovese to be aged in barriques, the first modern red wine blended with non-traditional varieties like Cabernet, and on e of the first red wines in Chianti not to use white grapes. One of the first Super Tuscans, Tignanello is meant to last, although its delicious structure and flavors can be enjoyed while young too. The nose shows layers of dark fruits and spice, with subtle notes of toasted oak. On the palate the wine is rich but well structured with fine tannins. Layers of fruit give the wine complexity, which continues through the long finish.

Striking ruby red in the glass, lovely colour. The nose quickly brings serious aromas, generous amounts of berry, spices, chocolate and some tobacco. A real monster on the palate with a great balance of acidity, flavours of coffee, jam and chocolate on the mid palate with a nice smooth and pleasing finish. Very well structured and balanced, drinking nicely today but expect maturity within a few years. 93 Points

Wine Tasting NotesVery intense ruby red color. Nicely expressed varietal aromas with hints of blackberry fruit. The palate is weighty, dense and vibrant with complex structure thanks to support of the acidity. Long and lingering with hints of chocolate, coffee and marmalade in the aftertaste.
