Tiefenbrunner Pinot Grigio IGT 2009
Light yellow to sandy-coloured in appearance, with an unobtrusive bouquet, and hints of pear and candied fruit. The strong harmonious structure emphasizes its dry full bodied taste and round finish. Serving suggestion: This white wine makes a good companion to all sorts of appetizers, as well as asparagus dishes, seafood, poultry, pork or veal.
Actually, 3.5+ stars. Color, this wine has a clean light nice color. Nose, I am picking some grassiness, apricot, green apple, lemon. It is very bright. Midpalate, clean, crisp, has little complexity, light. Finish, smooth, refreshing, clean, not really long but is ok, balanced. This is a decent and soled bottle of pinot grigio. I am 89+ on this effort. Bottled at 12.5%. Happy drinking!
External Reviews for Tiefenbrunner Pinot Grigio IGT
From this important producer of quality wines from northeastern Italy comes a pinot grigio that is clean and fresh, with bright, crisp fruit and a palate of flavors with more dimension than many from this varietal. It finishes with zesty acidity and an appealing hint of bitter almond.
Gorgeous example of the successful integration of fruit and mineral tones. Peach and green melon seem accented by lemon zest or lime. Elegant but structured in the mouth.
The 2006 Pinot Grigio is slightly richer and sweeter than the Pinot Bianco with perfumed, honeyed fruit and a plump personality. Made from grapes sourced from the Tri-Veneto region (Veneto, Friuli and Alto Adige) it lacks some of the character of a single-region wine. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2008.
Dried peaches, with hints of almond and mineral. Medium-bodied, with an oily texture and lots of flavor and freshness. Very good value and real Pinot Grigio character. Drink now.
This fresh, medium-bodied white has a good backbone of mineral flavors, and a nice acidity that lasts through the finish.
Cider apple and pear scents fill this simple, grapey pinot grigio. It's clean and straightforward. For the cocktail hour.
Tiefenbrunner is an old reliable when it comes to Pinot Grigio, and its 2000 is no exception. Pear and citrus are the flavors. The palate is well balanced and the mouthfeel round and smooth. Vibrant acidity accentuates the long, fruity finish.
