Tiefenbrunner Pinot Grigio 2012

Winemaker's Notes:

"Intense yellow in color with subtle copper highlights, this Pinot Grigio offers layered aromas of fresh pears, white flowers and candied citrus. Dry on the palate with a richness backed by crisp acidity and a long finish, this versatile wine pairs perfectly with grilled fare, from fish and vegetables to veal and poultry." -Winery

In this small hamlet, belonging to the village of Kurtatsch, blessed with a centuries-old tradition of winegrowing, there is a castle dating from the 12th century. This, together with the family name to the wine estate, Tiefenbrunner Castel Turmhof. The loamy, chalky soils and the Mediterranean climate – characterised by a moderate rainfall and a cool evening wind, which produces considerable differences between day and night temperatures – result in the perfect ripening of the cellars where they lend the wine its unmistakable character. A peculiarity of the Tiefenbrunner Castel Turmhof wine estate is the Müller Thurgau “Feldmarschall von Fenner”, cultivated at 1.000 meters above sea level. Viticulture at this altitude is unique Europe. Read less

Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

Really nice Italian pinot grigio. A bit more stone fruit and softer acidity than your normal pinot gris. This comes across more like a Napa Sauv Blanc, well balanced and fresh but not overly citrusy.
