Thumbprint Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Andolsen Vineyard Dry Creek Valley 2009
Nestled above the Western ridge of picturesque Dry Creek Valley is this steep, terraced hillside vineyard. Sustainably farmed, this pristine vineyard produces clone 6 cab grapes of great intensity, superior ripeness and extremely complex varietal character: dark cherry, fresh cedar, bold blueberry and toasty oak weave a tapestry of aromas and flavors into a bold fruit finish and blend a mouthful of textures with compelling fruit tannins.
Hand-crafted, small lot, micro-wines are created using the highest quality grapes from Sonoma County’s best appellations; Alexander Valley for cabernet sauvignon and syrah Dry Creek Valley for cabernet franc, merlot and zinfandel-as well as Russian River Valley for pinot noir and chardonnay.
I would actually give this wine 2 and 3/4 stars if it allowed me to. Needs time to open. Beautiful color. Sweet Oak and notes of raspberry on the palate. It really expands big time in the glass. A tad bit too much oak for me....But it doesn't make me dislike the wine. All in all a good wine that is clearly well made. Cheers!
