Three Valleys Cabernet-Shiraz Blend Cabernet-Shiraz 2007

Member Review by Sweetstuff:

2005 Ridge Three Valleys - USA, California, Sonoma County (7/11/2008)TN:Ridge 2005 California Sonoma County Three Valleys (Lytton Springs and Dry Creek Valley, two-thirds; Alexander Valley from Nervo, Mazzoni, Buchignani, Charmichael, and Stone Ranch vineyards, about one-third, and a very small amount of Sonoma Valley fruit from Pagani Vineyard.) The varieties are 74 percent Zinfandel, 13 percent Petit Sirah, 8 percent Carignane, 3 percent grenache; and 2 percent Mataro. Kroger, Troy, OH; $29/750 ml. Cork-finished; a dusky bricky-purple.A very juicy style, with the Zin berry fruit underlain with leather, smoke and spice and even a little cocoa. Fruit is lively and again juicy but has a nice juicy tartness; leaves a sweet impression on the finish that has nothing, I belive, to do with residual sugar. A highly gulpable, enjoyable summertime wine, whose very ripe tannins do their job but are as unobtrusive as those of a 1986 Gruaud-Larose upon release. Plenty of energy shown by vibrancy on the sides of the tongue. Obviously selected from fruit that will drink better young; a good choice of material and a good call for the blenders. A joy.90/100

WLTV North Jersey Off-Line at Basilicos: I found the nose kind of awkward. The one scent that was clear though was sugar plums. The taste was far superior to the nose with prunes, cherries, and oak. Not bad for a $15 wine -- but the nose turned me off.

Excellent intensity, with ripe, concentrated wild berry, raspberry, plum and cherry notes, with a nice dash of toasty, cedary oak and finishing with firm tannins. Drink now through 2008. 2,000 cases made
