Three Rivers Winery Red Blend Columbia Valley River's Red 2002

Winemaker's Notes:

Vintage The 2002 vintage started with a cool spring leading to above average temperatures in July and August. The midsummer heat advanced ripening into the beginning of September when temperatures moderated and cool nights allowed ample "hang time" for the flavors to develop. Fermentation & Aging The fruit was destemmed and crushed into small fermentors where it was either punched down by hand three times a day or pumped over twice daily. Primary fermentation lasted, on average, seven days. At this time the skins were gently pressed off and fermentation was completed in barrels. Malolactic fermentation occurred in barrels adding to the wines mouthfeel. Appellation: Columbia Valley Blend: 45% – Cabernet Sauvignon 28% – Merlot 21% – Cabernet Franc 6% – Malbec Harvest Brix: 24.5 Average Final pH: 3.72 Total Acid: 0.56 g/100ml Alcohol: 14.4% by volume

The name Three Rivers represents the three most prominent rivers in the appellations from which our winery sources its grapes-the Columbia, Snake, and Walla Walla Rivers. The Winery. In 1999, owners of Three Rivers Winery broke ground on the 16-acre site that is now home to our 18,000 sq. ft. facility. Set atop a small knoll overlooking the surrounding vineyards and Mill Creek, the winery features stunning views of the Blue Mountains in the distance and the nearby Whitman Mission. Inside, the winery includes two distinct areas: a 14,000 sq. ft. cellar and barrel room used for the production and storage of fine wines, and a 4,000 sq. ft. tasting room, meeting room, and wine retail store open to the public. In addition, the winery features three short holes of golf for winery guests. The interior design of the building blends a rustic feel into the contemporary structure, with vaulted ceilings and exposed timber trusses. The meeting room accommodates up to 75 people for business meetings and other group functions, and is available to rent. In the adjacent tasting room and retail space, winery visitors can taste and purchase Three Rivers' wine and related merchandise, or simply relax next to one of the stone hearth fireplaces-one inside and the other outside on the spacious deck. cherry and mocha scent very dry cherry flavor with a smoky finish I think it's past its prime.
