Three Rings 2006
[91 pts Robert Parker] Three (3) Rings is a joint venture between South Australia's Chris Ringland (Winemaker) David Hickinbotham (grape grower) and Californian Dan Philips (importer) creating a fine wine from 100 percent Barossa Shiraz from several old vine vineyards blended beautifully by Chris Ringland. If you like Shiraz you'll love this wine.
Lovely deep tar and black fruit nose. The palate is fresh and lively with plenty of fruit, spice and deeper oak flavors. This is my type of Syrah. The finish is tannic and rustic.
Very fruity, but with a really nice, soft and elegant finish. It leaves a slight metallic taste in my mouth, but I often get this with really ripe wines.
Thich velvety wine, very chocolately and full of licorice and coffee notes. Very fruity, but with a slight medicinal finish - i get this a lot with big syrah, so this is not out of the ordinary.
Big Mama's House Five. Fruity jamm-nyquil pepper slam-a-dam in your face, fun for awhile, but ultimately oppressive on the palate. I would drink it again, maybe with steak or pork loin. It's a foodie wine for sure.
Loaded with thick, smoothie like fruit which means it's an easy sell to a bomb-lover like me.
