What to Expect

Syrah: One of the few grapes to really be a global success. Syrah combines a meaty core of ripe berry fruit with tones that range from herbal to peppery in a package that tends to be medium bodied with good acidity and softer tannins. With age the wines can gain lovely leathery and black olive notes that make them a great match for savory and gamy dishes.

Winemakers Notes

100% Syrah from Betsy's Vineyard in Knights Valley, with notes of cherry, blackberry and black current with a lingering finish of dark cocoa on the palate.

Reviews

Nice mineral nose with bramble flavors and bright acidity. Lovely purple hue. Good structure, tart finish, lots of fruit, but in balance. Very nice.

From the Beverage Testing Institute World Wine Championships:

86 Points. Silver Medal. Deep amethyst color. Blackberry creme brulee, coconut oil, and pink peppercorn aromas follow through on a round, supple entry to a dry-yet-fruity medium-to-full body with pomegranate and green apple notes. Finishes with tangy, firm, powdery tannin fade. Give this a little time. (tasted on Jun-01-2009)

Dark baked fruit nose of plums, dates, with some toasted barley. Very fruity, licorice taste - good mouthfeel, smooth and rich.
