Thorne Cellars Pinot Noir Santa Rita Hills Sta. Rita Hills Rio Vista 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

Notes on the Thorne Rio Vista Pinot Noir Santa Rita Hills 2005 : NVWE NOTES: Rich in fruit, smoky and herbal-accented, the nose of this fine "debut" bottling offers dark plum, boysenberry, ripe cherry, roasted grain, bouillon, peppered beef and some red currant and orange zest hints in a richly-layered, but youthful mix. It is darker still and more mineral-edged on the palate, where toast, smoke, grain, tobacconist ship spice and hints of pepper sit toe to toe with the ripe cherry and plum fruit. This is a gutsy Pinot Noir and it deserves service with a rich roast or flavorful stew. It should improve for another two years or more. 425 cases produced.THORNE RIO VISTA PINOT NOIR SANTA RITA HILLS 2005

Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.
