Aged in third passage barrique This has a wonderful purity to the sweet, slightly candied notes of barely ripe crushed raspberries with hints of medicinal roots, flowers and bay leaves adding contrast. In the mouth this exhibits a light to medium bodied feel and is very fruit driven with a core of black currant and raspberry fruit that exhibits excellent cut and focus. There are hints of underbrush and herbs on the palate that show up on the big, pure finish with fruit that’s just a touch chunky and an almost spicy note of green anise seeds on the finale. A lovely wine, full and fresh. 90pts

Since 1994 I have been drinking the Cinq Cepages and found this to be my all time favorite blend. Plenty of body, great nose and extremely tasty. I haven't opened my 07 yet but it's sure to be as good as all of the others.

A Cabernet Sauvignon wine from California in USA. 2007 St Jean, Chateau Cinq Cepages 750ml

It s a magnificent Cabernet with loads of black fruit and hints of dried herbs, olive and sage aromas. On the palate, inviting flavors of currant, ripe black plums, blackberry and roasted oak aromas awakens your senses.

A lean blend emphasizing cabernet in its cassis flavors, this wine ends in soft tannins, powdery as black chalk dust. Still primary, with blunt grape flavor, this could prove more interesting with several years of age.

Black cherries, chocolate, ripe plums, violets and sweet vanilla oak notes jump from the nose of this Cabernet. On the palate, layers of ripe blackberries, roasty tobacco, cedar, mint and spice surround richly textured supple tannins that lead into a coffee and smoky oak finish.

Made in a light style, the medium-bodied 1998 Cinq Cepages (75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 6% Malbec, 2% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit-Verdot) exhibits a sweet nose of toast, earth, cedar, licorice, black cherries, and chocolate. There is excellent concentration, but because of the vintage conditions, this wine does not possess much volume, breadth of flavor, or intensity. Drink it during its first 10ndash;12 years of life.

The 2001 Cinq Cepages (76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, 4% Malbec and 2% Petit Verdot) is a silky, fully mature, fruity, seductive, round wine offering up notes of earth, bay leaf, sweet currants and plums along with sweet tannins. It should offer enjoyment for another 5ndash;6 years.

Winemaker's Notes:

92 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): Pungent aromas of red and dark berries, Asian spices and musky herbs. Broad, fleshy dark berry flavors gain freshness with air and pick up notes of allspice and candied rose. Manages to be both rich and lively, finishing with excellent energy and lingering spiciness. This really hangs onto the palate. (May/Jun 2009)

Tasting Notes:

This highly-anticipated 2007 vintage is finally out! And what a gem it is! This classic Bordeaux blend shows amazing power and finesse at such a youthful stage. It’s a magnificent Cabernet with loads of black fruit and hints of dried herbs, olive and sage aromas. On the palate, inviting flavors of currant, ripe black plums, blackberry and roasted oak aromas awakens your senses. Supple and ripe tannins surround a firm structure and lead to a deeply extracted and lengthy finish.
