Thomas Fogarty Monterey Gewürztraminer 2011

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

Beautiful lychee and exotic tea aromas greet the nose along with classic honeysuckle, and ripe fruit notes. In the mouth this is fairly rich but focused, with lovely bright fruit in a dry yet soft style. This exhibits a fine blend of tension and ripeness and opens nicely on the really long finish, which reveals lovely floral, citrus and light lychee notes. Retains a certain delicacy on the palate which I like, particularly when paired with such bright aromatics. 90pts

Alsace style wine with aromas of ginger and mineral. Dry finish. Good everyday wine.

Our Gewurztraminer has become one of the signature wines of Thomas Fogarty Winery. It is always delightfully dry on the palate, but full of tropical fruit, white flowers and spice (particularly ginger). These vintage produced some beautifully exotic

Gewurztraminer represents the pinnacle of exotic aromatics in fine wine. It possesses flowers, tropical fruits, spices, lychee nuts and a whole slew of other wild scents. Our 2008 'Gewurz' has fragrant scents of rose petals, mandarin and ginger. The 2008 vintage show a touch more restraint than previous vintages, displaying elegance and grace without sacrificing any of the electricity and exuberance. Drink early and often!
