Think Tank Syrah Santa Barbara County White Hawk Vineyard 2007
The first thing that strikes you about our 2007 White Hawk Syrah is its deep red color with a garnet hue. The complexity of this wine reveals itself on the nose with scents of black stone fruits, eucalyptus, white pepper and even cherry cola. Your palate is rewarded with luscious flavors of black cherry, dark caramel and toasted oak with a full-rounded, lingering finish consisting of noticeable, yet smooth tannins. As it is a big and young wine, give it some time to open up over the course of the evening!
Editorial Reviews for Think Tank Syrah Santa Barbara County White Hawk Vineyard
This is fairly intense on the nose, a bit oak driven with grilled pork aromas, notes of milk chocolate, leather, and mint over meaty plum fruit. Very soft and seamless in the mouth with fair brightness to the creamy concentrated berry fruits that have a nice porcini edge to them. The fruit flavors are pretty extracted here, and the tannins though fun, do a god job of accentuating that quality. There’s some nice green herb tones on the backend before this shifts into full on candied cherry fruit with slightly cocoa and medicinal herb notes on the moderately long, slightly extracted and slightly hot finish. A bit much. 88pts
Bright red fruit and cinnamon coffee cake topping aromas. Still a little bit of heat, but that will mellow out over time. Love the deep red fruit, mostly cranberries and cherries, with a tart finish of oak and vanilla.
