Think Tank Pinot Noir Santa Rita Hills Sta. Rita Hills la Encantada Vineyard 2008
Owing to its youth, the 2008 La Encantada Vineyard Pinot Noir is a little closed to start. Suddenly, dark black cherry aromas fill the glass and evolve into a violet/cola mixture. The nose hints of depth and concentration on the palate. This a bolder version of our 2007 vintage with a fuller palate and fleshier mouth feel. Pronounced flavors of sweet cherry and red berry fruits. The oak is well integrated and the wine flows smoothly across the mouth. This is a wine that will continue to blossom 30 to 60 minutes after opening.
Editorial Reviews for Think Tank Pinot Noir Santa Rita Hills Sta. Rita Hills la Encantada Vineyard
Earthy and funky on the nose with a chalky edge to the barnyard, rubber and leather aromas. There’s some nice fruit buried in there and gently floral top notes but this is sauvage. Very soft and broad on entry with wonderfully bright acidity supporting pure wild raspberry and lightly red curranty fruit on the palate. There’s a suggestion of sweetness in the mid-palate and almost imperceptible tannins offering support with a nice moderately long and lightly spicy finish that ends with a bit of minty meatiness. 89pts
