Food Pairings for The Williamsburg Winery Burgesses' Measure Merlot
The 2007 Burgesses' Measure is characterized with a very upfront berry tone full of cherries, strawberries, red and black raspberries and some cranberry. Behind the fruit tones there are some very pleasant herbaceous and earth nuances reminiscent of black olives, truffles and suede. There is also a hint of clove, cinnamon and a bit of powdered cocoa giving the wine a gentle spice aroma. Balancing the fruit, earth and spice tones is a creamy vanilla aspect that balances the wine out nicely. The mouth feel of the wine is full bodied yet retains a silky character. The tannins and oak are well integrated into the overall balance of the wine making this a very approachable wine and one that will complement food well. Wine Makers Notes
