Food Pairings for The Other Guys Zinfandel Lodi Plungerhead
oaky, toasty nose, palate of blackberry, cinnamon, nice long finish
I don't think I'd buy this wine again, it was overly oaky and the fruit seemed flat.
Cinnamon play works extremely well here
Old world style. Not as fruit forward as I have come to expect from Lodi zin. Good spice and not much or tannin. This is a pleasant smooth drinking wine.
Nose full of baking spice and an odd seaweed tone. On the palate, dark, brambly fruit. Red berries, sage and pepper. It's nice and dry. Finished a bit raisiny. - Tasted at Schreiner's Winers blind zin tasting 9/18/10
Wonderful zin! Very robust with notes of raspberry and bramble, black cherry and cassis and integrated flavors of spice, like cardamom. Nice coffee flavors on the back end. - Tasted at Marché Bacchus 1/9/10
External Reviews for The Other Guys Zinfandel Lodi Plungerhead
This medium-plum colored Zinfandel is very forward with rich and sappy French oak notes, with ripe raspberry and bramble notes up front. The core of the wine is very robust with dark fruit including black cherry and cassis followed by generous and integrated spice flavors of star anise, cardamom, licorice with ample coffee flavors on the backside which finishes with the classic old vine, resinous finish. This wine is the perfect match to St. Louis style ribs with a side of cole slaw or a hearty bowl of turkey chili paired with jalapeno cornbread muffins. Also try this alongside your favorite Mexican dish, such as sizzling chicken fajitas with cilantro and lime.

In the mouth, this Zinfandel has flavors of dried strawberry, dark raspberry, plum sauce, cedar, and pomegranate, with hints of white pepper and cherry liquor. The finish is sweet fruit, toasty oak, and lingering warm spices.
