The Moshin Vineyards Pinot Noir Lot Russian River Valley 2007

External Review by WineExpress.com:

Backordered! Due in June 24th. Reserve yours today! In this vintage, which was the best he's seen in 20 years, Rick Moshin added to his Estate Pinot grapes with grapes from nearby prime vineyard sites all hand pruned and hand harvested. This raised the production for his 2007 to a mere 875 cases. His gravity-flow winery allows gentle handling of the grapes retaining the subtle perfume and bright flavors of strawberry, and black cherry. Aged in oak barrels (26% new) for 11 months giving it a layer of complexity and structure for aging, this is a beautiful Pinot that will continue to show well for the next 5-8 years or more. Just awarded a Gold Medal at Sonoma Harvest Fair. Wine Spectator Vintage Rating: 98 not sponsored by or affiliated with The Wine Spectator

This is an extremely rare and exceptional wine from Moshin Vineyard, only produced in the best years. Only 450 cases were produced in the 2007 vintage. Select Pinot Noir clones from their estate vineyard in the Russian River Valley are crushed and fermented entirely with wild yeasts. This allows for a much more complex development of flavors during fermentation. Aged 11 months in French oak, the ripe fruit flavors are haunting and intense. It shows bright flavors of raspberry, black cherry and vanilla, a silky mouth-feel, a lingering finish and an excellent balance. This wine drinks beautifully now but also can be cellared for up to 5 years.
