The Hess Collection Red Blend Mt. Veeder Mountain Cuvée 2003
Dark, aromatic, and dry. Very tannic and lively, even after 9 years. Berries, chocolate, cassis, and black tea. This is a really nice blend, dominated by Cab Sav, of reds. You can almost taste the volcanic soils (not that I know what a volcano tastes like). Tastes like the lower end of very high end wines, which is a complement for a $30 bottle.
Made from Bordeaux varietals plus Syrah - therefor dark purple with slightly higher alcohol level than those "Meritage" from Bordeaux. Full body wine with dark fruits and firm tannins.
