The Crossings Sauvignon Blanc Awatere Valley 2013

External Review:

Pale yellow. Shy nose hints at lemon and pepper. Riper in the middle palate than the nose suggests, but with only moderate definition and grip to the flavors of citrus fruit, mint, green melon and herbs. In a middle-of-the-road style.

The Crossings was founded by a group of wine lovers who dreamed of crafting outstanding wines from grapes grown in the picturesque Awatere Valley in the Marlborough region at the north eastern tip of the South Island of New Zealand. Their dream was realised in 2001 with the first vintage of The Crossings. Today, with three superb vineyards producing Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and a state-of-the-art winery, The Crossings wines have an enviable reputation for quality in several of the world's most discerning markets. I rencently went to a restaurant in cornwall and sampled the crossings sauvignon blanc and it was fantastic. Best bottle of white i've ever drunk. I had a fish dish and it complemented it wonderfully. highly recommended

The 2011 Sauvignon Blanc displays lemon and lime aromas with some grassy notes and a touch of peas. Medium-bodied and crisp, it has adequate fruit concentration and a simple, medium to long length. Drink it now to 2014.

The Crossings is named for its location in a special place where early European settlers first crossed the fast flowing waters of the Awatere River in Marlborough, New Zealand. The winery was founded by a group of wine lovers who dreamed of crafting outstanding wines from grapes grown in the picturesque Awatere Valley. The 353 acre estate is planted on three distinctive vineyards, each on alluvial river terraces, on the northern bank of the Awatere River. An ideal setting for ripe Sauvignon Blanc. The Wine Spectator described this 2011 as "Melon and green apple flavors are showcased here, with floral, mineral and fresh fennel details. Light and extremely refreshing, as the flavors glide. Nicely done. Drink now."

The Crossings 2011 Sauvignon Blanc presents a pronounced nose of passion fruit, pink grapefruit, and bay leaf with a slightly sweaty/musky undercurrent. Medium bodied, crisp and with a good concentration of apple and citrus flavors, it finishes medium-long. Drink it now to 2013.

Pungently herbal, but filled with grapefruit and a hint of peach at the same time, offering a wonderful balance of ripe fruit character with herbal, savory notes. Easy to drink: It's full and round in the mouth, with good persistence.

A light nose with touches of white peach, apricot and a touch of passion fruit. Good definition, quite feminine. Vibrant entry, racy acidity, brimming full of lemon zest, apple and lime. Very focused and full of joie-de-vivre. Simple, but a joy to drink. Drink now. Tasted January 2008.

Dried cut grass with herb and stone flint compliment passion fruit and pungent citrusy aromas. Opens with a wonderfully vibrant freshness, developing floral and peachy aromas. Ripe zesty citrus flavors build through the succulent juicy acidity and signature minerality of the long finish.
