The Crossings Sauvignon Blanc Awatere Valley 2011

The Crossings 2011 Sauvignon Blanc presents a pronounced nose of passion fruit, pink grapefruit, and bay leaf with a slightly sweaty/musky undercurrent. Medium bodied, crisp and with a good concentration of apple and citrus flavors, it finishes medium-long. Drink it now to 2013.

Pale yellow. Shy nose hints at lemon and pepper. Riper in the middle palate than the nose suggests, but with only moderate definition and grip to the flavors of citrus fruit, mint, green melon and herbs. In a middle-of-the-road style.

The 2011 Sauvignon Blanc displays lemon and lime aromas with some grassy notes and a touch of peas. Medium-bodied and crisp, it has adequate fruit concentration and a simple, medium to long length. Drink it now to 2014.

The Crossings is named for its location in a special place where early European settlers first crossed the fast flowing waters of the Awatere River in Marlborough, New Zealand. The winery was founded by a group of wine lovers who dreamed of crafting outstanding wines from grapes grown in the picturesque Awatere Valley. The 353 acre estate is planted on three distinctive vineyards, each on alluvial river terraces, on the northern bank of the Awatere River. An ideal setting for ripe Sauvignon Blanc.
