The Crossings Sauvignon Blanc Awatere Valley 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

Wine Tasting Notes Powerful aromas of passion fruit and tropical notes lead into a complex palate of melon and stone fruit, underpinned by a zesty acidity and the classic Awatere flinty mineral spine.

A special place where early European settlers first crossed the fast flowing waters of the Awatere River in Marlborough, New Zealand. The Crossings was founded by a group of wine lovers who dreamed of crafting outstanding wines from grapes grown in the picturesque Awatere Valley in the Marlborough region at the north eastern tip of the South Island of New Zealand. Their dream was realised in 2001 with the first vintage of The Crossings. Today, with three superb vineyards producing Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and a state-of-the-art winery, The Crossings wines have an enviable reputation for quality in several of the world's most discerning markets. The 143 hectare (353 acres) estate is planted on three distinctive vineyards, each on alluvial river terraces, on the northern bank of the Awatere River. Read less

I rencently went to a restaurant in cornwall and sampled the crossings sauvignon blanc and it was fantastic. Best bottle of white i've ever drunk. I had a fish dish and it complemented it wonderfully. highly recommended

Colour: Vibrant with a crisp and subtle green hue.Bouquet: Dried herb and gunflint compliment gooseberry, passionfruit andpungent grassy aromas.Palate: Lime zest and white floral notes are framed by a structured yetsupple mid palate. Mouth-watering acidity with the Awatere'ssignature mineral background complete the persistent finish.Food Matching: Panfried calamari with coriander served with sourdough bread.

Lively, generous with its grapefruit and celery seed flavors, lingering on the deftly balanced finish. Drink now. 27,000 cases made. -HS Wine Spectator. A Sauvignon Blanc wine from Marlborough in New Zealand. 2009 The Crossings Sauvignon Blanc 750ml
