The Chook Sparkling Shiraz Mcclaren Vale Australia Shiraz Sparkling NV

Winemaker's Notes:

89 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): (made from a blend of fruit from McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek) Vivid ruby, with a frothy mousse. Bright raspberry and cherry on the nose and palate, with subtle white pepper and spice notes adding vibrancy. Nervy and less sweet than most versions of this genre, with good back-end lift and tangy bite. Finishes with good clarity and a strong echo of fresh red berries. (Jul/Aug 2010)

Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

Slight sweet with concentrated red berry and cooked cherry flavors. Perfect with dark chocolate treats or hard sharp cheeses after dinner.

My first sparkling Shiraz, and I'm not sure what all the hype is about. The wine is balanced, but young, and unremarkable. Plenty of berries, and just enough tannin, but the mousse and bubbles die quickly. I'd take a well made still Shiraz over this most days. I can see where smoky meats would bring more out of the wine.

Dark purple. Powerful raspberry and blackberry on the nose, with a subtle floral accent. Sweet red and dark berry flavors are braced by zesty minerality and flesh out with air. Juicy, nicely focused cassis and blueberry on the finish, which is unusua... Stephen Tanzer's IWC. A Proprietary Blend wine from South Australia in Australia. N.V. Chook, Sparkling Shiraz 750ml

Light colour; a well put together light-bodied shiraz with some flavour complexity and the usual slightly sweet finish to balance the phenolics. James Halliday.

Bright violet color with a frothy mousse. Intensely floral and spicy nose offers zesty strawberry and blueberry aromas and a hint of cracked pepper. Juicy sweet dark berry flavors provide good palate coverage and become spicier with air. The blueberry note lingers on the juicy finish. Serve this oddball with spicy cured meats and salty cheeses. Stephen Tanzers IWC.
