Lots of smooth crushed raspberry, soft inviting texture. High alcohol but no heat at all. Too easy to drink and very food friendly. Dangerously gulpable. Pairings range from grilled meat, to red sauces, to duck with red curry to salmon and tuna sashimi. Very versatile, great value

"Con'-tent - The sum of qualities that make up a work of art. Con-tent' - mental ease, quietude." (Webster's New/International Dictionary). Whether the hill is a place of substance or of ease, the wine fits both definitions. The 1999 harvest yielded fruit with beautiful, well-defined flavors. The wine explodes with waves of raspberry, plum, spice, and pepper. The understated oak adds complexity. The interplay of aromas and flavors has the delight of a Bach cantata. It is a wine to enjoy now with a summer barbecue or beef stew, but in five years it will be and even better wine. Sit and take your ease and enjoy this work of art. Be content with the content (the accent is up to you)!
The 2001 Grenache/Shiraz is primarily from Clare Valley with a bit of McLaren Vale fruit added. Its modest bouquet of minty, berry-scented aromas is followed by attractive, elegant flavors, good freshness, and a moderately-endowed finish. It should be consumed over the next 1-2 years.
Starts off firm, with red fruit flavors and a tang of acidity competing with spicy oak. Lingers seductively on the velvety finish. Drink now through 2010.
The 2002 Grenache/Shiraz (72% and 28% respectively) is a super value. Aged completely in old neutral wood, it possesses a sumptuous nose of kirsch liqueur, and peppery, spicy, black fruits, medium to full body, an opulent palate, and abundant fruit, purity, and texture. It is a delicious wine to consume over the next several years.
Medium red. Expressive red berry and cola aromas are brightened by floral and mineral qualities. The creamy raspberry and blackberry flavors boast a velvety texture and are gently framed by fine-grained tannins. Exotic baking spices build on the persistent, juicy finish. Pretty seductive stuff mdash; especially at this price.
The 2004 Grenache ndash; Shiraz was aged entirely in used oak. The aromatics are muted but with coaxing earthy kirsch and blue fruit scents emerge. More expressive on the palate, the wine is velvety-textured, seamless, and easy-going. Made in a forward style, it is a wine to drink over the next 3ndash;4 years. It offers good value.
On the tart side, with a crisp edge to the blackberry and roasted red pepper flavors. Drink now through 2011.
