The Accomplice Shiraz Australia New South Wales 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

The Accomplice is produced in the Riverina region of New South Wales, Australia, which sits between Victoria and the Great Dividing Range. The area is known for its flat plains and warm climate. The vineyards throughout the Riverina are planted on soils originated from ancient river beds. Deep red in colour, these sandy loam soils give plenty of nourishment too the vines.

Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

The Accomplice comes from De Bortoli winemakers in Australia. It's a good example of a typical Australian shiraz: spicy and a splash of freshness. And it's also a nicely priced wine (about € 5,-). I tasted the 2010 and 2012 vintage. The 2012 is not as convincing as the 2010, which was one of my favorites for a long time. Nice to drink on an evening with good friends and soft cheese. Great logo by the way.
