Textbook Merlot Fin de Journee 2010

External Review by WineExpress.com:

In 1999, global wine industry veterans and husband-and-wife team Jonathan and Susan Pey decided to forge their own path in the wine industry. The couple launched the Textbook brand to feature wines from Napa Valley and have created some outstanding examples including this 2010 Merlot. For this wine they sourced fruit 70% from Rutherford and 30% from Carneros. Grapes were hand selected in both the vineyard and again at the winery before a slow fermentation. 2% of Oakville District Cabernet was added to the final blend and the wine was aged in 35% new French oak for 16 months. Robert Parker scored it 90 points saying "The 2010 Merlot Fin de Journee is another great buy. Its dark ruby/purple color is followed by abundant sweet black cherry and black currant fruit intertwined with notions of white chocolate and damp earth. Full-bodied, opulent, round, juicy and endearing, it should drink well for 8-10 years."

We also produce a "Napa Valley" bottling with fruit coming from mature sites in Yountville, Oak Knoll and Spring Mountain. We call it "Fin de Journee". Both win... Read more
