Testarossa Syrah Santa Lucia Highlands Garys' Vineyard 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

Dark purple hue. Please pass the white pepper! This Garys' Syrah is a perfect example of cool-climate Syrah. Intense aromas of white pepper and to a lesser extent blueberries, black pepper, and anise. On the palate, the wine is very silky and expansive. Layers of vanilla bean, blueberries, and bacon comprise of this rich Syrah, while not being over-powering. This wine has the stuffing to last 10+ years. A great pair for lamb or even dessert! -Bill Brosseau, Winemaker 91 pts Wine Enthusiast This is a big wine that's not ready now-it's too tannic. That gives it a lockdown, numbing quality that blocks a full appreciation of fruit. But what fruit! Blackberries pure and simple, reduced to their quintessence. Such is the inherent integrity of this wine that is should effortlessly negotiate 4 to 6 years, gradually softening. -Steve Heimoff 218 cases produced NOTE: We can only ship wine to the following states: AK, CA, CO, FL, IA, IL, KY, MI, MN, MO, NC, ND, NH, NM, NV, NY, OH, OR, TX, VA, WA, WI

Showed characteristics of a nicely aged wine with a lucious fruit and hints of spice on the nose and soft but full tannin structure on the palate. May have peaked six months prior yet would still pair nicely with a hearty meal.
