Teruzzi & Puthod Vernaccia di San Gimignano Vernaccia Tuscany Vernaccia di San Gimignano 2008
Enrico Teruzzi is a true Tuscan pioneer, being not only one of the first people in the region to install temperature control in his cellar, but also doing much to save Vernaccia from extinction. Admittedly, the legislation was already in place to do so: Vernaccia di San Gimignano was the first DOC to be created, in 1966, eight years before Enrico’s arrival. Nonetheless, his determination has ensured that this most characterful of Tuscany’s indigenous white varieties is more than a legal curiosity. San Gimignano, close to the Chianti zone, also has a growing reputation for Sangiovese. This 100% Vernaccia wine has an elegant nose of apple and minerals, followed by a medium-bodied palate, hints of almond and an appetizing Chablis-like finish.

I love this wine. It needed about 20 minutes of breathing time. But it's got this great combination of citrus, racing/bracing acidity, but also some buttery notes. I would buy it again. It seems a shame, actually, to be drinking this on a Monday night, just for the helluvit. Bought in DC at Calvert Woodley for about $12.00 US bones!
2.99 a bottle at the local 99 Cents Only store...another neat bottle for the collection~
This wine is awesome! Just picked up a case from 99¢ store, tasted it, am going back for another case right now. It has a combination of different fruit flavors, also on the dry side. Can be paired with fish and chicken, very versatile.
tastes like a peanut butter sandwich devoured upon a tuscan hilltop above a landfill filled with italian baby shit.
Bought a bottle yesterday at 99 cent store and it was surprisingly good. We went back and bought 5 cases today, some for us and some to give to friends and family. What a score!
I picked up 3 cases of it....great value...at the 99 cent store

This blend of Vernaccia, Chardonnay, Malvasia, and Vermentino is barrel-fermented, yielding a wine full of bright and vivid fruits ranging from pineapple to peach. Made in a lush, medium-bodied style, the barrel ageing adds an undercurrent of vanilla and lovely toasty nuances than permeate the wine. A great match for baked sea fish.
Weingut: Teruzzi & PuthodLand: ItalienAnbauregion: ToskanaRebsorten: VernacciaInhalt: 0,75 lAlkoholgehalt: 12,5 Vol.%Restsüße: 12,0 g/lEmpfohlene Serviertemperatur: 8-12°CLagerfähigkeit: 2-4 Jahre ab Jahrgang Suche nach Rebsorten > Weiße Rebsorten > Vernaccia Bianca
