Terre da Vino Barolo DOCG "Essenze" 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

Following the traditional local winemaking practice of blending together various separate lots to compose a Barolo, we achieved a Barolo of superb quality. Despite utilising traditional winemaking practices, our house style is evident, which emphasises full-bodied wines with emphatic fruit, and optimal equilibrium among all components as well. After maceration on the skins for some 25 days, malolactic fermentation was completed in steel, and the wine then matured in oak for 24 months.

The many guests who arrive at our winery every day cannot help but notice that they are literally surrounded in every direction by vineyards. The view is breath-taking, unique not only because the Langhe is one of the world’s most renowned winegrowing region, but also because our own cellar in Barolo is the focus of a concentration of wine production practically unequaled in Italy. This impressive production capability allows us to pursue a truly rigorous selection process and to offer wines of the highest quality as well as some extremely distinctive and individual bottlings. Our product line includes wines recognised world-wide as well as native varietals known only locally, but the philosophy remains the same: only wines from Piedmont, only wines that are DOC and DOCG! We invite everyone to visit us in Barolo: it is indeed a rare occasion when you can witness, from high above on a flying passageway, all the steps of winemaking, from fermentation through ageing and bottling! Woody, raw woody, a bit waxy chocolate, fresh acids, extracted, hollow, a bit powerful, extracted tannins on finish, some modest fruit.

AWE blind tasting - clean, fresh, candied and slightly uninteresting, slight herbal root character, nice herbal character in the mouth but lacks some backing fruit, easy to drink and refreshing, simple but the one flavor is enjoyable, very short 83-84
