Terre da Vino Barbera d'Asti Superiore la Luna E I Falò 2008

Winemaker's Notes:

Vinification is traditional, with a 15 day maceration on the skins and a 28-30oC fermentation, followed quickly by the onset of malolactic. The wine then matures for about 12 months in small oak, about 1/3 new; here, the wine, already impressively structured, acquires a multi-layered depth of flavour and character, evolving into a richly-nuanced Barbera of grace and expressiveness. SENSORY PROFILE Colour: Deep ruby red. Bouquet: Rich and deep, with a complex balance of violet, liquorice, and vanilla notes. Palate: Crisp and dry, with a subtly-veined background of vanilla and wild berries, which carry through to its lingering finish.

The many guests who arrive at our winery every day cannot help but notice that they are literally surrounded in every direction by vineyards. The view is breath-taking, unique not only because the Langhe is one of the world’s most renowned winegrowing region, but also because our own cellar in Barolo is the focus of a concentration of wine production practically unequaled in Italy. This impressive production capability allows us to pursue a truly rigorous selection process and to offer wines of the highest quality as well as some extremely distinctive and individual bottlings. Our product line includes wines recognised world-wide as well as native varietals known only locally, but the philosophy remains the same: only wines from Piedmont, only wines that are DOC and DOCG! We invite everyone to visit us in Barolo: it is indeed a rare occasion when you can witness, from high above on a flying passageway, all the steps of winemaking, from fermentation through ageing and bottling! Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.
