What to Expect

Barbera is one of the classic Grapes of Italy's Piedmont region, though it is popular throughout much of Northwest Italy and has gained a following in California. Searing acidity has been a trait of Barbera though modern viticultural techniques and warmer regions have tamed the acidity, resulting in medium-bodied wines with bright, red fruit tones that feature hints of violets, earth and plum with just a whisper of tannin.

Rating: 17/20 - As reviewed by Jancis Robinson This is the creme de la creme of the Barbera produced by a group of co-operatives and very satisfactory it is too. Especially if, as I was told, it will sell for less than £9 a bottle at Booths in the UK.
