Terrazas de Los Andes Torrontés Reserva 2008
- Show All (66)
Château Troplong Mondot is grown on extensive vineyards rich in limestone clay soils. Powerful, well-structured with pronounced complex tannins, its deep aromas of truffles and blackberries develop over time.
This is an easy 4 glass rating, probably deserves a little more. Has an aromatic nose of dark fruit and licorice perfume. The palate is dense and compact, with a good balance of fruit, minerality, licorice, and some underlying spice from the small cabernet content (5% cabernet franc, 5% cabernet sauvignon, 90% merlot). Medium, dry finish. Very classy wine with a good pedigree and place in St. Emillion. 93 points.
a nice blended wine with a slight creaminess and a crisp acid backbone; some nice fresh fruit on the nose, fairly simple.
Incredible floral nose which leads to a crisp yet oily wine with nice peach flavors. Finishes on a delicate lemon flavor.
I think we got this wine in a wine club and I can tell you I am going to find out where I can get more. What a pleasant surprise! Perfect for a hot summer night! And so elegant and balanced- medium bodied with luscious fruit/citrus- yet not too forward or sugary; and just enough acidity that you barely notice it at all. All components blended in perfect harmony unlike so many wines that seem to be overdone screaming for attention these days. Excellent on its own or with light poultry/fish dishes.

This brilliant Torrontés is crafted in northern Argentina’s La Rioja region. The Torrontés grape, a distant cousin of Muscat, produces distinctively aromatic white wines, and we think they are some of the best bottles to come out of Argentina lately. The “Plata” is dry on the palate, with notes of mixed white flowers, yellow plums, and even some white peppercorn on the finish. Overall, it has a remarkably fresh character, enabling it to complement lighter dishes without overwhelming them. It’s fresh and surprising each and every time you open a bottle.
Bright ruby-red. Superripe, musky aromas of black cherry, minerals and flowers. Lush and silky but quite backward, with excellent energy to the primary dark fruit and mineral flavors. Chewy, powerfully structured wine. The superb building finish features substantial granular tannins and lovely definition.

Dominating the St Emilion village, Troplong Mondot and its 33 hectares is one of the 1/2 big " estates of the region. Endowed with a fabulous terroir, the quality of the wines has steadily improved since the arrival of Christine Valette-Pariente in 1980. Her husband joined her a few years later and started the restructuration of the facilities and the vineyard in a respectful approach of the environment. Their efforts led the estate to the rank of 1er Grand Cru Classé of St Emilion in 2006. The wines, profound, concentrated, are a perfect union between the elegance and the power of the terroir.
90% merlot, 5% cabernet franc, 5% cabernet sauvignon. Planted on marl soil, flecked with limestone and flint. This release offers a restrained nose with subtle aromas of exotic wood and spice. Eine kräftige Pinot Noir Spätlese. Sein intensives Aroma duftend nach reifen Beeren, sowie gut strukturierte Tannine geben ihm eine Lagerfähigkeit.
