After traveling around the region, Poirier visited Luján de Cuyo, in Mendoza. Highly impressed by the local conditions for winemaking and the presence of excellent high elevation vineyards, Poirier and Moët & Chandon decided to set up its first ever vineyards outside France. After decades of experiencing with sparkling wines production, in 1999, Moët Hennessy Wine Estates and Bodegas Chandon Argentina opened Terrazas de los Andes Winery - a varietal still-wines initiative based on its emblematic high-elevation vineyards, fed by the Andes meltwater. Bright ruby red. Bit of a medicinal nose with a background of blackberry and chocolate. Medium to heavy mouthfell with a striking unexpected sweetness to it. Continuation of the blackberry and chocolate profile noted on the palate with a nice blend of tannins.

Rich plum color, aromas of black stone fruits and spices; flavors of plums, boysenberries, blueberries, mint, leather and coconut with supple tannins and good length. Fire up the grill!

Another nice vintage from Terrazas. A good solid Malbec that is easily found and good for anyone to try out.

Ripe plum and black cherry flavors abound, mixed with the tiniest hint of ammonia in the nose, which subsides quickly. The wine is still rather tannic, but the rough structure and seemingly endless finish suggest it will improve with a few more years. (AV 87, http://argovino.com/?p=514)

Good medium ruby. Crushed blackberry, licorice, violet and a hint of pepper on the nose and palate, plus a subtle dried fruit quality. Shows an almost pruney chocolatey character in the mouth, but this superripe malbec boasts a creamy, sophisticated texture and is nicely perked up by a peppery element. Finishes with fully ripe tannins and sneaky length. Oily and tropical on the nose, with pungency and clarity. The palate is full, layered, plump and loaded with lychee, honeydew and green herb flavors. Provides good feel and just enough acidity to make for a long ending. - M.S. The 2010 Reserva Malbec is raised in one-third new oak. It needs a few swirls of the glass for the bouquet to awaken, but eventually springs forth with blackberry and black olive aromas that seem suppressed, suggesting another year in bottle or a little decanting would be beneficial. The palate is medium-bodied with saturated ripe tannins, layers of toasty black cherry and cassis fruit a...

The 2009 Malbec Reserva received the same elevage as the Cabernet. Inviting aromas of balsam wood, lavender, underbrush, a hint of truffle, and black cherry lead to a ripe, plush, layered, Malbec with excellent balance and length. Drink this excellent value from 2012 to 2019. ** SOLD OUT **

A clear and pure expression of malbec from the heights of Luaacute;an de Coyo, this delivers violet and cherry aromas and a tense tannic structure. Its freshness whets the appetite for lasagna Bolognese.
