Terrazas de Los Andes Cheval des Andes Red Blend 2002
A joint venture between Château Cheval Blanc and Terrazas de los Andes, this wine is a groundbreaking blend of legendary, Bordeaux “First Growth” winemaking expertise with the very best terroir in Argentina, resulting in an elegant New World tribute to the historic art of assemblage.
A joint venture between Terrazas de los Andes and the legendary Château Cheval Blanc in Bordeaux. The vineyards are located on a select parcel of the most treasured terroir in Argentina, and made up of ungrafted vines dating back to 1929. The wine is made in the spirit of Cheval Blanc, yet displays the fruit intensity of its Argentinean roots.
I tried this at a wine tasting. It was the last wine of the day which probably wasn't the best of ideas. I think we should have had this first so we could savor the deliciousness of it. One person described this as being "Better than Catholic school girl sex." We were a little toasted at that point. But in a way, he was right. To this day, it remains in my top 2 favorite wines. I've had it a couple times since that first taste. Every time it is better.
