Food Pairings for Terrasses de la Mouline Saint-Chinian
My first experience with Saint-Chinian. I bought it because it has my favorite combination of grapes: grenache + syrah, and it's a Languedoc wine, so I had high expectations for it. It has a that great gamey, wet-soil kind of smell typical of the grenache grape (in my opinion). It is a little unbalanced though. Kind of tart, with a rough mouthfeel. However, it does have a good amount of body. You can drink it on its own, and still be entertained. There is a lot of pressure on a grenache/syrah from the Languedoc, since the kingpin of that category is Chateuneuf du Pape. You can't always get it exactly right. This wine seems a bit like an awkward teenager with a lot of potential. Maybe another year in the bottle?
Didn't care for it. The taste of alcohol was too strong.
