Terras Gauda Abadía de San Campio Albarino 2015

Member Review by EMark:

Remarkably bright golden color. Suggestion of citrus on the nose. The wine starts off with an unfortunate chemical taste, but that whatever that was, it blows off after a few minutes. Lots of acidic fruit flavors—citrus, tropical. Some mineral hints. But now I’m getting a metallic thing on the back edges of my tongue. OK wine, but not one that I will seek again.

The vineyards, which are between 50 and 150 metres above sea level, enjoy an exceptional microclimate characterised by mild temperatures, with an annual average of 15º C, very little frost and abundant rainfall. This microclimate is ideal for ripening, with a high sugar content and a lower acidity level than in other parts of the Rías Baixas designation of origin area that lie further to the north, where the quality of the wine is more variable because of the climate.
