Under new ownership since 1999 Angus and Margaret Wurtele are working to reinvigorate the quality and production of these wines. This full bodied Cabernet is a great example showing nice cassis fruit with red berries and a spicy sweet cedar on finish.
Terra Valentine Spring Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon comes mostly from the Wurtele Vineyard on Spring Mountain. Planted entirely to cabernet sauvignon in the early '90s, the vineyard ranges in elevation from 800 to 1,000 feet. Nine percent of the grapes come from the recently planted Yverdon Vineyard Estate and there is an addition of three percent cab franc. The wine's nose starts off with dark and jammy fruits, cedar spic and clove, with just a hint of toasted marshmallow. The palate starts with bright cherry fruit on the entry with undertones of dark cocoa. It is silky, with lingering tannins that will help it age nicely for the next five to seven years.
