Terra Valentine Cabernet Sauvignon Spring Mountain District 1999

Winemaker's Notes:

Production 1550 cases Terra Valentine was founded by Angus and Margaret Wurtele in 1995. Four years later the Wurteles acquired the 80-acre Yverdon property, three miles above their home on Spring Mountain. The artisan fieldstone winery is surrounded by steeply sloped vineyards in undulating land of rocky clay soil. Winemaker Sam Baxter brings inventive ideas to winegrowing. His winemaking techniques are complemented by his father, general manager Phil Baxter, who has more than thirty years of winemaking experience in Napa Valley. With an appreciation of new technology enhanced by tradition, Terra Valentine introduces the 1999 Napa Valley Spring Mountain District and Wurtele Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon wines as the initial offering for national distribution. Aromas: Blueberry, plum, boysenberry, bayleaf, herbal, toasty, cedar, earthy, coffee, cocoa Mouth: Ripe full bodied entry into nice fruit, long finish espresso toasty oak tones The second vintage of our blend from our Spring Mountain Vineyards shows vibrant blueberry, plum and bayleaf aromas, followed by deep boysenberry and cocoa flavors on the palate. The wine finishes long with tones of espresso and toasty oak. 90 points - Wine Enthusiast, February 2003 88 points - Highly Recommended -Beverage Testing Institute, January 1, 2002 Tasting Notes Brix at Harvest 24.74
