It is an especially forward, opulent Terra di Lavoro bursting with exuberance. There is something viscerally thrilling about the 2007, perhaps because Terra di Lavoro is typically so reticent when it is young. Not here. This is an open, wonderfully expressive vintage. The only thing left to wonder is if the wine will ever shut down in bottle. For now, readers who want to understand what makes Terra di Lavoro such a pedigreed wine may want to start here. Readers who prefer a firmer style will likely gravitate towards the 2006 or 2008, but this is a flat-out great bottle of wine with an explosive personality that carries through to the long, intensely satisfying finish. In 2007 the weather was consistently hot, but the 2007 doesn't show the jamminess of the 2003 nor the sheer power of the 2001. Terra di Lavoro is 80% Aglianico and 20% Piedirosso from vines planted by consulting oenologist Riccardo Cotarella beginning in 1991. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2032. (Aug 2010)
truly a great wine! drink 3 5 hours after opening, in my opinion, mature, great longevity. notes of ripe red berry cherries and blackberries, followed by hints of spices, tobacco and cinnamon. RP 97/100 seem a bit excessive, however exceptional wine. firstname.lastname@example.org
This wine has a deep, inky ruby color and compelling aromas of smoky dark fruit, ash, tobacco and minerals. The palate is powerfully structured and layered with bold flavors that have an impressive enduring finish. Robust components are beginning to integrate and the wine should continue to improve for the next 5 years.

A dark, beefy red, with layers of game, underbrush and wild herb to the dark blackberry, cassis and plum skin notes. I hope one day to have another chance to taste a vertical of Roccamonfina Terra di Lavoro because I have a strong feeling the 2010 will occupy a place among the very finest vintages produced on this tiny vineyard on the slopes of the Roccamonfina volcano. An exotic melange of tar smoke graphite blackberry jam and savory herbs explode from the glass. The 2010 is intense and full-bodied yet also incredibly elegant. A big breathtaking wine the 2010 continues to build all the way through to a deeply resonant expressive finish. I would choose to leave this uttterly beguiling Campanian red alone for the better part of a decade but readers are going to have a very hard time excercising that patience. This is a fabulous effort from proprietors Arturo and Dora Celentano and their long-time winemaker Riccardo Cotarella. Tiefdunkles Violett. Das Bukett dieses stets hoch bewertenden Weines ist äusserst vielschichtig: Aromen von Steinpilzen, Mandeln, Feigen Veilchen, Teer, Rauch und schwarzen Kirschen steigen in die Nase. Extrem dicht und komplex am Gaumen mit sehr guter, fester Struktur. Mit weiterer Reifung, werden sich die jetzt noch jugendlichen, präsenten Tannine sehr schön einbinden. Unglaublich langes und intensives Finale.
