Food Pairings for Terra Andina Carménère Rapel Valley Reserva
Wonderful wine at a great price. This wine pairs perfectly with a variety of foods. It worked so well as a table wine that I am buying several cases of it for my upcoming wedding.
My Rating 89. This is a well balanced elegant fruity wine with hint of oak and complex ripe fruit. The nose is also well balanced and elegant. Price abaout $ 10.-
Pop and pour ... Solid and tasty carmenere I would buy again. Inviting, even beautiful nose of blue floral, juniper berry, and a hint of smoke with darker ripe fruit. On the attack smooth, steady, and not strong acid and tannins with almost a floral taste followed by earthy sour ripe dry fruit and mild black pepper. Finish of same plus a bit of greenness with a hint of mineral or metal. Not so much green pepper taste as often evident with Chilean-grown fruit. Pretty good QPR.
After 5 days vacu-corked in the fridge this wine was still very full and delicious even if it had lost a few nuances. Nose of floral, juniper, hint of smoke and ripe fruit. Smooth, tame, easy acid and a bit more grippy tannin with richer chewy ripe dry plum and currant fruit and mild pepper, just delicious at refridgerator temps. Finishes of sweet wax, fruit, leather and oil. Excellent QPR given how it lasted in the fridge.
Carmenere is becoming my favorite inexpensive red, although this particular bottle was lacking note, thin in the mouth and a little too alcoholic on the finish.
smokey, plumb, just a hint of bitter at the end. I Love it!
One of the few wines I would buy a case of. Perfect balance.
External Reviews for Terra Andina Carménère Rapel Valley Reserva
Attractive perfume of the spice box, balsamic, herbs, blackberry; ripe, plush, no hard edges.
The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva is a bit more restrained. Blackcurrant and blackberry aromas lead to a slightly tannic wine with savory flavors and moderate depth. It could well evolve for 1-2 years but can be enjoyed now. The red wines start with the 2007 Carmenere Reserva, a pleasant, easy-going effort with aromas of coffee/mocha, blueberry, and plum. Ripe and round on the palate, it finishes with no hard edges. Drink it over the next three years. Ripe and juicy, with mint, sweet spice and tasty mixed berry fruit that pushes along a briary edge. Drink now.Bright, with a red fruit profile of raspberry and cherry layered with sweet fruitcake, spice and licorice notes. A bit obvious in style, but will have fans. Drink now.
The herbal notes beneath this winersquo;s ripe and opulent black fruit mark it as carmenegrave;re. Itrsquo;s big and intense, with a firm texture wrapped by chocolate tannins.

Opaque ruby. Pungent aromas of black cherry, smoke and black pepper. Then sappy, sweet and light-bodied, with good verve to the black and blue fruit and licorice flavors. Somewhat clenched, but backed a firm spine of acidity and good closing cut.
Ruby-red. Jammy red and dark berries on the nose, with gentle spiciness building in the glass. Creamy and sweet, with vivid raspberry and blueberry flavors, zero tannins and good snap to the finish. This is a pretty amazing bargain and extremely easy to drink.
A wonderful introduction to the Carmeacute;negrave;re grape, this wine is flavorful and complex, with the essence of smoked cherries, blackberry, tobacco leaf, cocoa and spices.
"Made from the Carmenere grape, this decadent Chilean wine brandishes a violet-ruby robe along with the typical green olive, green pepper, and cigar ash aromatics associated with this varietal, but also showcases delicious notes of chocolate syrup, herbs, cherries, and blood oranges. Soft, round, and juicy on the palate, this punchy, fruit-forward wine is medium-bodied and ready to drink now. A virtual clarion call to all other Carmenere producers in South America, this rousing iteration from Terra Andina has set the bar for this varietal...90" Sonoma Wine Journal 1/10
