Food Pairings for Terra Andina Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve
The wine itself has a deep ruby color, and a nose that is somewhat unusual for a Cabernet, with aromas of ripe berry, leather, rosemary and chive (chive on eh?), with a bit of musty, earthiness as well. The taste is quite fruity upfront, with ripe plum, black currant and a sweet, jamminess that transitions to some lovely spice notes midpalate. The tannins are soft, as is the finish, which seems a little lackluster, but pleasant. Glass-staining ruby. Smoky aromas of cherry skin, cassis, licorice and dark chocolate, with a hint of dried rose. Sappy dark fruit flavors become livelier in the middle palate and pick up a note of fruitcake. Open-knit and sweet cabernet with very good finishing breadth and lingering spiciness.
The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva is a bit more restrained. Blackcurrant and blackberry aromas lead to a slightly tannic wine with savory flavors and moderate depth. It could well evolve for 1-2 years but can be enjoyed now. All of Terra Andina's wines are worthy of recommendation.
Brendan's BuzzRated 90This wine is QUITE a bargain, which I truly need as I watch my 401K drop quicker than the roller coasters at Disneyland. Right now, it seems like great deals in Cabernet Sauvignon are getting harder and harder to find. I jumped on the Terra Andina and bought as much as my supplier would give me. The Terra Andina Cabernet from Chile has all that I look for in bottle of wine. The color is dark garnet and on the nose you get rich, full aromas of spice, black currant, blackberry, cigar box, earth and toast. The body is elegant and full with juicy ripe fruit leading to a lengthy finish. So far this is the Cabernet deal of the year at only $7.99 a bottle.Wine Tasting NotesBright and deep ruby color. Intense with a sweet first touch. Reminds blackcurrant and plums mingled harmoniously with graphite and toasted coffee flavors. Structured and concentrated. It has a soft texture with firm and rounded tannins which give a very long aftertaste.
