What to Expect

Brunello di Montalcino is certainly one of the premier expressions of Sangiovese in all of Italy. Unlike other regions, such as Chianti, Brunello must be produced from 100% Sangiovese, in fact the particular clone referred to as Brunello. The vineyards of Brunello cover a large hillside and can be roughly divided into four regions, though things like age of vines and vinification techniques can easily mask the characteristics of each zone. Editorial Reviews

A little buttery on the nose with notes of sweet oak, spicy beef broth and extract and an assertive wildflower note that emerges with time. This had nice acids and really good cut in the mouth yet remained a bit raw feeling throughout the tasting. It’s young and a touch simple with attractive strawberry fruit that finishes with a zesty, mineral and herb edge. 87pts

Reviews

Shows blackberry and black cherry aromas. Full-bodied, with silky tannins and lots of dense fruit. Builds on the palate. Juicy and rich. Has more concentration than the average Brunello. RP93

Made in an accessible feminine style. Medium in body the wine flows from the glass with layers of sweet perfumed fruit showing notable balance and harmony. The wine closes beautifully with an inviting long finish.
