Tenuta Polvaro Polvaro Nero 2010

Editorial Review by Snooth Editorial:

Red fruit immediately on the nose with some stony minerality and a bit of petrol along with some vanilla. Fig and red cherry flavors in the mouth are not living up to their potential, and are slightly thin and mixed with some more minerality that is not unpleasant but perhaps a bit out of place. 82 pts

Tenuta Polvaro in the Veneto is an estate that dates back to the 1600's. The De Zan family, makers of the Candoni wines, now owns it and they produce wines that are traditional in character but modern in style. This wine is a red blend of new and old grapes; 41% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, 13% Syrah and 8% Refosco. The grapes are vinified separately and aged in oak. It shows a unique character of ripe berries and spice. The Beverage Testing Institute scored 92 points saying "Aromas of spicy poached plum, chocolate cherry, and poultry seasoning with a supple, dryish medium body and a tangy apple, pomegranate, spice and earth accented finish with chewy tannins. A very good table wine with bright acidity."
